A trip to the West Coast isn’t complete without venturing off to check out some of Vancouver’s beaches! Even if you visit in the off-season, with our mild climate, you can still go for a walk, drive or cycle to check out the beautiful coastal scenery. Always good for photo ops regardless of weather!
Where: Located along Beach Ave between Gilford Street and Bidwell Street
Keynotes: The most populated beach area in Vancouver’s downtown area with a Cactus Club Café including concession for your eating convenience…sure beats a hot dog!
Where: Located west of the seaside neighbourhood of Kitsilano…on the north side of Jericho Park at the west end of Point Grey Road between Wallace Street and Discovery Street. Click to view Jericho Beach webcam…updated every 10 minutes.
Keynotes: Concession, playing fields, tennis courts, picnic tables, home of the Jericho Sailing Centre.
Where: “Kits” Beach is located on Cornwall Avenue at the north end of Yew Street.
Keynotes: Salt water, outdoor swimming pool right on the beach, concession, Boathouse Restaurant (perfect for afternoon / afterwork drinks & appies or a date), basketball courts, tennis courts.
Kitsilano Beach Hotspot: LOCAL PUBLIC EATERY. In the summer, this place is packed…so if you want a spot on he patio, go early and put your name on the list!
Where: Located at the west side of Jericho Park on Northwest Marine Drive between Discovery Street and Tolmie Street
Keynotes: Designated “quiet” beach (no amplified sound), picnic tables, concession.
5. Second Beach
Where: Located on the Stanley Park seawall at Stanley Park Drive and North Lagoon Drive beside the outdoor pool.
Keynotes: Concession, playground, picnic shelter.
Where: Located on Northwest Marine Drive west of Tolmie Street and on the Seaside Seawall
Keynotes: Three distinct beach sections, allows you to bring your portable BBQ, concessions, picnic tables.
Note: Spanish Banks West is a designated “quiet” beach (no amplified sound), and also has a dog off-leash area.
7. Sunset Beach
Where: Located at the mouth of False Creek on Beach Avenue between Bute Street and Thurlow Street…just steps away if you are in the West End and Downtown Vancouver areas.
Keynotes: Designated “quiet” beach (no amplified sound), concession, volleyball court.
8. Third Beach
Where: Located on the Stanley Park Seawall at Ferguson Point.
Keynotes: Great for picnics & watching sunsets. A naturally sandy beach surrounded by trees, concession, BBQ’s are allowed.
Where: Located at the south end of Trout Lake in John Hendry Park at Victoria Drive and East 19th Avenue.
Keynotes: Play fields, concession, picnic area, dog off-leash area (north end of lake).
